Volunteer Opportunities

Get involved in the Toledo Bar Association by volunteering with the Pro Bono Legal Services Program. This is a great way to connect with the Toledo legal community, while also fulfilling your Pro Bono graduation requirement. Through Pro Bono, you can observe attorneys at brief advice clinics, or assist in a virtual legal clinic. These opportunities will expose you to practicing law here in Toledo and allow you to network with other volunteer attorneys.

Work Study & Internship Opportunities

Eligible^* work study students and student interns are needed to to assist in the Pro Bono and Lawyer Referral programs.

Through this placement, students will have the opportunity to:

• conduct client intakes;
• attend and assist in pro bono clinics;
• draft legal documents;
• complete legal research assignments;
• hone their issue spotting skills;
• learn local court procedures and protocol.

Summer Clerkship

The TBA sponsors a Summer Clerkship Program in which law school students will have the opportunity to work as a summer associate in a local law firm, corporate legal department, court or public sector position. The program is open to law students at the University of Toledo and law students with connections to the Toledo area but attend law school out of the area. The program provides invaluable work experience and mentoring. Applications open February 2025.

TBA Committees

As a student member of the TBA, you are eligible to attend join three committees and welcome to attend meetings. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about practice areas of interest and establish contacts in the legal community. Law student members are encouraged to join the TBA Young Lawyer Committee, which hosts a number of social events throughout the year.
